Who we are
Punta Cana Work, operating puntacanawork.com in the Dominican Republic, is responsible for the personal data described here. Contact us at any time through our contact page.
What we collect
- Account data: email address, name, phone number, WhatsApp number, and your area.
- Professional data: business name, bio, categories, service areas, languages, years of experience, insurance status and portfolio photos you upload.
- Job data: the job description, category, area, optional budget, optional location note and photos you upload.
- Activity data: quotes, hires, reviews, and a log of the emails we send you.
- Technical data: IP address (used for rate limiting and abuse prevention) and a session cookie.
How we use it
- To run the marketplace: matching jobs to professionals, delivering quotes, and enabling a hire.
- To send the transactional emails the service depends on — sign-in codes, job matches, quote notifications, hire confirmations and review prompts.
- To review professional applications and to keep the platform safe (rate limiting, suspension, audit logging).
What we share, and what we never share
A homeowner's name, phone number, WhatsApp and location note are shown only to the professional whose quote they accept. They are not shown to professionals who merely view or quote on a job, and they are never published on the public site.
A professional's public profile — business name, bio, categories, areas, languages, portfolio photos, ratings and reviews — is visible to anyone. Their phone number is shared with a homeowner only after a hire.
We share data with the service providers that run the platform: Cloudflare (hosting, database and file storage) and SendLayer (email delivery). We do not sell personal data, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.
Electronic invoicing. Where a professional has switched on electronic invoicing (e-CF), the contents of the invoices they issue here — their own fiscal details, the recipient's name and tax registration number where given, the invoice lines and the totals — are transmitted to a certified electronic invoicing provider and, through them, to the Dirección General de Impuestos Internos (DGII). This is required by Ley 32-23 and is not optional for an invoice issued as an e-CF. The DGII holds that record under Dominican tax law rather than under this policy, and we cannot delete it on request.
Retention
Account, job, quote and review records are kept while your account is open and for as long as needed for legal and accounting purposes afterwards. Sign-in codes expire within minutes; sessions expire after 30 days.
Your rights
You may ask us to access, correct, or delete your personal data, or to close your account, by contacting us. We will respond within a reasonable period. Note that reviews of completed work may be retained in anonymised form.
One thing is kept after an account is closed, on purpose. We store a one-way cryptographic trace of the email address and telephone number on the account — and, for a professional, of the RNC and cédula — so that if the same person signs up again we can reconnect the new account to the ratings and standing of the old one. A one-way trace cannot be turned back into an address or a number and is never shown to anyone, including our own staff. It is kept for as long as the platform holds the records it protects.
Security
Sessions use signed, HTTP-only cookies. Sign-in codes are stored hashed, expire in ten minutes and are limited to five attempts. Uploaded files are validated and served from private storage. No system is perfectly secure, so please tell us straight away if you notice anything wrong.
Children
The service is not intended for anyone under 18 and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Stored property credentials
If you store a password, an access code or an account number against a property, it is encrypted before it is written down and is hidden everywhere it is displayed. Showing one is an event we record: who asked, which property, which entry, and — where a member of our staff asked — the reason they gave. We keep that record even after the entry itself is deleted, because it is how you find out who was shown a code. It never contains the value.
Documents you upload against a property are private. They are served only through links that expire after a few minutes and only to you or our staff. They are deleted, along with the files themselves, when you delete the property or your account.
